Twelve professionals from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Poland, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, and Türkiye along with two interpreters will be in Kalamazoo from May 2-6 to as part of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).

Goals include exploring government structure, specifically the division of authority and responsibility between federal, state, and local governments. Visitors will also explore intergovernmental cooperative councils, like regional planning partnerships, and public-private partnerships that help state and local governments to provide enhanced services, encourage economic growth, and ensure public accountability.
