Supporting Integration and Human Rights of Displaced Persons - IVLP

This group of five leaders from Armenia focused on supporting the integration and human rights of displaced persons was able to connect with a wide array of leaders and services in our community supporting refugees and newcomers of all backgrounds. In just five days, the group met with five local organizations, participated in a volunteer activity, and enjoyed a lovely hospitality dinner hosted by fellow Armenian and Global Ties Kalamazoo Board Vice President Anna Popkova and her family.

Our team enjoyed hearing the thought-provoking questions asked by this group and the discussions they were able to have about the immigration system and social services provided to displaced persons in both Kalamazoo and Armenia. There was a great deal of mutual exchange within these meetings. Thank you to Plainwell High School, Nadine Irankunda, Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, KPS' Newcomers Program, Kalamazoo Refugee Resource Collaborative, and Orchestra Rouh for sharing your passion with our visitors and for the essential work you do in our community!
